German F. Ascani, MD, MS (he/him) is a board-certified psychiatrist, psychotherapist, and psychedelic mental health consultant and trainer. Recognized for his compassionate and deeply attuned clinical presence, he works at the leading edge of contemporary psychiatry—bringing together evidence-based practice, relational depth, and respect for the transformative potential of psychedelic and natural medicines. His work is grounded in the belief that each person has an innate capacity for psychological, emotional, and spiritual healing and growth.
Over the past decade, German has pioneered Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) and incorporated it into his clinical practice, guiding individuals through healing processes with care, nuance, and integrity. His clinical background includes working with underserved, unhoused, LGBTQ+, and marginalized communities, where he has nurtured cultural sensitivity when delivering care and providing leadership. His practice is rooted in humanistic, integrative, and trauma-informed perspectives.
German serves as Lead Medical Trainer and Consultant for the Psychedelic Research and Training Institute (PRATI) and has trained hundreds of licensed clinicians in psychedelic-assisted therapy. He is MAPS/Lykos-trained in MDMA-Assisted Therapy and worked as both therapist and study physician in Phase 3 clinical trials. He is licensed in Colorado as a Natural Medicine Clinical Facilitator and is co-founder of Treehouse Sanctuary, a psilocybin healing center in Denver.
As an educator and mentor, German is committed to cultivating a culture of safety, ethics, and skillful clinical practice in the emerging psychedelic field. His teaching emphasizes grounded, relational presence, trauma-informed care, and adherence to best practices in psychedelic therapy—ensuring these modalities are offered with dignity, respect, and clinical excellence.
