Bree Emery, MSW, LCSW

My experience lends itself to working with many different types of people. Thus, I enjoy working with adolescents, teens and adults; both male and female. Issues of specialty include: identity issues, self-mutilation, behavioral issues, sexual assault, trauma, coping skills, anxiety, and depression. I have strived to find a framework to empower all individuals to form strong identities and discover their strengths, skills and capacities. I believe in a holistic approach to counseling. Consequently, mental, emotional and relational needs are addressed along with physical and spiritual needs.
As someone who has worked entrenched in trauma for a long time, I think I may have built a tolerance for the darkness; the sadness, the anger, the confusion. Carl Jung said, “One does not become enlightened by imagining figures of light, but by making the darkness conscious.”
There is no denying the light and the dark; in nature or in us.
My desire, in my work, is to help individuals become WHOLE.
“We are tied together in the single garment of destiny, caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, and whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly.” -Martin Luther King, Jr.
