 Title: Digital Systems Coordinator & Webmaster

 Type: Contract (3-6 hours per week)

Job Summary:

The Digital Systems Coordinator & Webmaster will be responsible for maintaining and improving our WordPress website and WooCommerce platform. This includes updating plugins, building and optimizing webpages, managing web security, and troubleshooting any issues that arise. Additionally, they will support issues that may arise around our organizational Slack and Google Workspace accounts. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in web development, a keen eye for detail, and a proactive approach to problem-solving. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Website Maintenance:

  • Regularly update WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
  • Ensure compatibility of updates with the WooCommerce platform.
  • Monitor site performance and uptime.

Web Development:

  • Build and customize new webpages as needed using WordPress Divi builder, following organizational branding and guidelines.
  • Optimize website layout and functionality for a seamless user experience.
  • Implement SEO best practices to improve site visibility.

Web Security:

  • Implement and manage security measures to protect against cyber threats.
  • Regularly back up website data.
  • Conduct security audits and fix vulnerabilities.

Troubleshooting and Support:

  • Diagnose and resolve website issues promptly.
  • Provide technical support to staff and users as needed.
  • Work with hosting providers and third-party services to resolve issues.

E-commerce Management:

  • Maintain WooCommerce store, including product listings, payment gateways, and order processing.
  • Ensure the checkout process is smooth and secure.
  • Monitor and report on e-commerce performance.

Documentation and Training:

  • Create and maintain documentation for website processes and procedures.
  • Train staff on basic website management and troubleshooting.

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Work closely with the marketing team to implement new features and campaigns.
  • Communicate technical information to non-technical staff clearly and effectively.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience with WordPress and WooCommerce.
  • Knowledge of Slack and Google Workspace platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP.
  • Experience with web security best practices.
  • Familiarity with SEO principles and tools.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical issues independently.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Previous experience in a nonprofit setting is a plus.

POTENTIAL TASKS:

Update Management:

  • Schedule and perform regular updates for WordPress core, themes, and plugins.
  • Test updates in a staging environment before applying them to the live site.

Webpage Building:

  • Design and implement new landing pages for campaigns using WordPress Divi builder.
  • Update content on existing pages as needed.
  • Create custom templates for recurring content types.

Security Management:

  • Install and configure security plugins
  • Set up and monitor firewall rules and intrusion detection systems.
  • Regularly change passwords and review user access permissions.

Troubleshooting:

  • Diagnose issues such as slow loading times, broken links, and plugin conflicts.
  • Resolve errors arising from updates or changes to the site.
  • Provide support for e-commerce issues, such as payment processing errors.

E-commerce Operations:

  • Add and update product listings, ensuring accurate descriptions and pricing.
  • Configure and test payment gateways and shipping options.
  • Monitor and report on sales performance and user behavior.

Backup and Recovery:

  • Set up automated backup schedules using plugins or hosting tools.
  • Perform regular manual backups.
  • Develop and test a disaster recovery plan.

Training and Support:

  • Create user guides for common tasks like updating content and managing products.
  • Train staff on using the WordPress dashboard and basic troubleshooting.
  • Offer ongoing support for website-related queries and issues.
