Gwendolyn Harville-Washington, Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)
I aid individuals in understanding how past traumas and other negative experiences affect behaviors and their interactions with others. With expertise in trauma informed practices, I specialize in helping individuals find better ways to connect with others and the world around them, and ultimately create more fulfilling relationships and lives.
My goal is to serve those in my community on an individual basis, as a couple or family, and/or through participation in a group. I work diligently to provide an environment where clients feel safe to openly share their experiences and navigate through their healing journey. Additionally, I support a community agency who provides substance abuse treatment and mental health services to the underserved population in my community. I provide clinical supervision to their interns and associates.
I am also working to build community with other practitioners by serving as a referral source for prescribers whose clients are in need of support with integreation of past memories or experiences that surface during medication treatment sessions.
I use Internal Family Systems and Sand Tray in my practice with clients. I am a firm believer in each individual having the ability to access their natural, internal healing capabilities. My focus is on aiding/guiding people to tap into their natural healing powers through “the self” to become the person they are intended to be. It is my hope that as individuals heal, so will their families, as well as communities.
