Michael Sharp, MD
Functional Medicine practice with focus on understanding and treating traumatic stress at the root of chronic illness and debilitating problems of mood. Offering to our patients a ketamine-assisted relational milieu grounded in Internal Family Systems methodology, Somatic Experiencing, and Polyvagal Theory of autonomic nervous system reactivity. Our ketamine-assisted therapy program is constituted of:
Physican-conducted medical intake to ensure suitability and safety of KAT for our patients;
Skilled coaching to build co-regulating trust and rapport in preparation for KAT sessions;
Integration coaching to support the ‘rewiring’ of habitual dysregulation patterns that the KAT sessions provide access to.
We currently work one-on-one, and are developing plans for small group KAT work for two aims: reduce cost to individual patients, and expand healing that is nurtures in connecting and co-regulating.
We have no doubt that the problems of political and interpersonal conflict, climate and species degradation, arise from the generationally-passed, trauma-induced conviction of aloneness set like kryptonite at the core of the human psyche. This ‘set’ chronically deprives us of the super-power resting in our mammalian ANS to connect with each other and with nature, heal, be at ease, and solve problems together. We know equally, from our personal experience and our work with patients, that the non-ordinary experience induced by ketamine, accompanied by a skillfully caring presence, can soften these barriers to genuine human connection that are the root of depression, anxiety, and PTSD.
Our commitment, and joy, is to join co-regulatingly in every element of our engagement with ourselves, each other, and our clients to restore the ‘frequency of safety’ innate to our nervous system, rewrite the trauma patterns, nurture the genius of wholeness, and in so doing very much join forces with PRATI and so many others expanding the boundaries of work with psychedelic medicine to heal our world.
